A bride trying on dresses found one that was everything: swishy, beautiful, perfect for a countryside wedding. The moment she discovered it had pockets, she announced she would be using them to carry toads. Her friend said she was already dealing with a bride who wanted wellies to go wading in the marshlands, and now she had toads to worry about too. Between every dress she tried, she jumped on and off the podium like she was about eight years old.
It was the end of a sale day and a bride had tried on six dresses and come back to her favourite. She could not say yes because she was convinced her mother-in-law would hate it and hate her in it. Her friends were in the middle of a full pep talk. I told her straight: this is your day, not your mother-in-law's. She said yes to the dress.
A bride put on her dress and I could not hold it together. Her mum looked over and could not believe what she was seeing. Both of them told me they would definitely be coming back, just for the compliments.
Limit the group, especially if anyone in it has strong opinions. Everyone means well but too many voices and you end up wearing someone else's dress.
Most brides arrive convinced they know exactly what style works for their body. Eight times out of ten they try it on and it is nothing like what they imagined. The dress that surprises you is almost always the right one.
