Charena

Bridal Consultant

Charena completed a BA in Fashion Design at the University of Hertfordshire, then went on to study an MA in Womenswear at Central Saint Martins alongside her work at London Bride. She came to bridal because her mum was looking for her wedding dress. She went along to one of the appointments and never looked…

What would you say you specialise in as a stylist?
Brides who have no clue where to start, or who just aren't used to dressing up but want to feel and look their best. I love helping them step out of their comfort zone and figure out what looks best while still making them feel like themselves.
Memorable Brides...
Has a bride ever made you cry?
Not specifically, no. Only happy tears. You occasionally meet people you bond with right away and seeing them happy and genuinely grateful pulls on the heartstrings a touch.
On who to bring

Come with no more than two people. Your first appointment is about figuring out what you feel your best in. Too many opinions that early on can cloud your judgement.

On trying styles you hadn't pictured

Refusing to try on a style you hadn't initially pictured for yourself is the biggest mistake. You could be missing out on something you never realised would suit you.

On alterations

Almost anything is possible as long as you give yourself time. But it is not easy and it is not cheap, so give yourself a healthy budget separate from your dress budget if you are planning on getting creative with your requests.

First dance song?
Why I Love You by Major.
Wedding trend that needs to die?
Bridgerton theme weddings. Looks pretty but very repetitive.
Wedding trend you secretly love?
Vintage wedding dresses. Loudly love.
Biggest celebrity wedding dress: hit or miss?
Demi Lovato in custom Vivienne Westwood. Hit.
If you could dress any celebrity for their wedding?
Zendaya. A classic draped Maggie Sottero A-line ballgown with a huge train and a high leg slit to show off her signature Christian Louboutins in white.
Most times a bride tried the same dress?
Three times. She cried harder each time.
Biggest gap between what brides say they want and what they choose?
Completely basic, plain and fitted. Leaves with a princess gown, full sparkle and a full length veil.
