How They Met
Like any modern fairytale, we met on a dating app at 26, not expecting a swipe to lead to something lasting. The early messages were slightly awkward, as they often are, but George quickly changed that with his humour and wit, which drew me in. Within two days we'd moved off the app and met for our first date at The Ned, where we drank espresso martinis and watched the sunset from the rooftop bar. The rest is history.
The Proposal
George proposed during a safari in Sanbona, South Africa, with my parents, uncle and aunt by our side. After a few days exploring South Africa's vineyards, we arrived at Sanbona on the afternoon of 7th November 2024 and set out on our first evening drive. As the sun began to set and champagne was in hand, George asked me to marry him. It was one of the most magical and surreal moments of my life.
Their Wedding Vision
Rustic and whimsical. Most of all, we wanted the day to be fun for everyone, a celebration our guests would remember forever.
Finding the Dress at London Bride
I first knew of London Bride through my now mother-in-law, and I'd also been a guest at a wedding where the bride's stunning dress had been bought there. By the time I booked my appointment, I already felt confident it was the right place for me. I went in with a particular style in mind, but after trying on a few different gowns and getting amazing guidance from the LB team, I quickly fell in love with something more traditional: a strapless A-line. Kim and Annabel went above and beyond during my appointment, allowing me to bring my bridesmaids, mother and mother-in-law along to help me find my dress. Searching for a destination wedding dress in London, I needed something that would travel easily to Portugal and feel right for a sunlit church ceremony in Lisbon. They understood that from the start.
The Moment She Knew
I truly felt like a bride in this dress, and that was clear from everyone's reactions. The quality was exceptional, noticeably better than other dresses I'd tried in different shops. Most importantly, it made me feel confident walking down the aisle and comfortable enough to dance and celebrate all night, which mattered enormously to me.
The Wedding Day
We married at St Anthony's Church in Lisbon, with the reception held at Solar de Pancas just outside the city, surrounded by vineyards. My mum and sister helped me into my dress. Walking into the reception to 'the rest is still unwritten' is a moment I'll always remember. My dad's speech, George's speech and the party that followed all stand out.
Advice for Future Brides
Expect to fall in love with something completely different to what you originally had in mind. Try not to overthink the process. The right dress is the one you genuinely love and feel your very best in.
