How They Met
We met on Hinge in May 2020, at the height of the pandemic. Our first date was in St James's Park, socially distanced. We did break the rules to kiss at the end.
The Proposal
We were in America visiting my family for Christmas 2024, driving from Atlanta to Nashville, when Rich wanted to stop at a scenic viewpoint along the way, even though we had other plans (very out of character). We went up to the top and it was just the two of us. That's when he got down on one knee.
Their Wedding Vision
We wanted something more casual, so we got married in a pub. Our priorities were having all our people there, good food, and great entertainment. We wanted to throw a super fun party for our guests. Because it was a destination for the American half of the family, we ended up doing a three day event, with welcome drinks at a 1920s art deco cinema and a scavenger hunt around London leading up to the wedding.
Finding the Dress at London Bride
London Bride was one of the few stores that carried a dress I'd favorited on Instagram over the years leading up to the wedding. I didn't end up picking that one, but the dress I chose was pretty similar. I had my mom in town from the US, along with a few girlfriends, which made the appointment feel really special. The team listened closely to what I was looking for and pulled not only the dresses I asked for, but ones that were similar, or a bit different, but still fit with my vision. At one point I had on the top half of one dress and the skirt of another, just to see what some alterations might look like. In the end, I found a fit and flare wedding dress in London that felt exactly right, and I added Bardot sleeves from a completely different gown to make it mine.
The Moment She Knew
I felt so beautiful, and when I walked out everyone said 'wow'. My mom started crying, which of course set me off too.
The Wedding Day
We had the ceremony at the Pleasance Theatre and the reception at Depot N7 pub, right down the road. We'd planned for every eventuality of London weather, except a heat wave, so we ended up buying a load of emergency fans off Amazon for our guests at the last minute. We included a lot of touches that made the day feel like us: thrifted egg cup place settings, a cake that looked like a stack of books, and cat signs on the bar. Guests seemed to really enjoy it.
